Loosen the Grip: What Vegas (and God) Taught Me About Grace

October 09, 20253 min read

You know those moments where life hands you a plan… and then laughs?

That was me last week.

I had it all mapped out: — free Coaching Friday, the launch of The Worthy Rebellion, the perfect schedule, the perfect plan.
And then life said, “Cute. But no.”

Instead of being the organized, caffeine-fueled coach with her act together, I was the woman dragging her suitcase through the Vegas airport at midnight — running on fumes, hope, and one last iced latte.

By the time I got home at 3:15 a.m., unpacked, and crawled into bed at 3:30, I realized something: my body wasn’t the only thing that needed rest. My soul did too.

The Magic (and the Mess)

Vegas was incredible — a reminder that joy doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.

I saw The Wizard of Oz in 4D (because who doesn’t need a little Emerald City magic?), explored the Friends Experience at MGM, and treated myself to one of those $17 sugar-free vanilla protein lattes with vanilla cold foam. (29 grams of protein, 12 carbs, 4 fat, and 150mg of caffeine — I checked.)

But here’s the part I didn’t plan for: the fun.

The fish & chips at the Nine Irishman Pub.
The OG Ringer Burger at Guy Fieri’s restaurant in Caesars Palace.
Chocolate-dipped strawberries from Hershey’s.
A Bloody Mary
and a chocolate martini — because why not?

For a few days, I said yes — to flavor, to laughter, to moments that didn’t fit in MyFitnessPal.

And when I got home, I felt it — not just the jet lag or the bloating — but the guilt.
That old voice whispering, “You should’ve done more.”
“You’re behind.”
“You messed up the plan.”

Sound familiar?

💡 The Gentle Reminder

Somewhere between the laundry and my second cup of coffee that Monday morning, God whispered something simple but life-changing:

"Rest isn't lazy. Fun isn't failure. Grace isn't earned - it's given."

I realized I’d been gripping my plans so tightly that I forgot to leave room for His.

The truth is, you can love Jesus, build a business, raise a family, and still need a nap.
You can pivot without losing momentum.
You can pause without losing purpose.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do… is laugh over lunch, sleep in, and trust that the world won’t fall apart just because you did.

💬 Let's Get Real

If your week hasn't gone according to plan— if you’ve eaten the burger, skipped the workout, or lost your rhythm — here’s what I want you to know:

You’re not failing.
You’re human.
And maybe, just maybe, God is using the detour to remind you that your worth isn’t tied to your to-do list.

So loosen the grip, my friend.
Enjoy the moments that don’t fit neatly in your planner.
The dishes can wait. The emails can wait. The plan can wait.

Because life isn’t about perfect execution — it’s about faithful presence.

Next week, I'm launching The Worthy Rebellion - something so close to my heart it feels like a personal love letter to every woman who’s ever battled the “Who do you think you are?” voice.

Until then, consider this your reminder:
You don’t need to earn rest.
You just need to receive it.

So pour the coffee, reheat it twice if you have to, and breathe.
You’re not behind. You’re becoming.

With love (and a side of protein latte),
💋
